Cabinetry gets the attention, but the wood that ties a room together is usually millwork — wainscot in the dining nook, a coffered ceiling over the kitchen island, a walnut mantel across the family-room fireplace, a floor-to-ceiling built-in in the study. Our millwork shop shares the same floor as our cabinet shop in Plano, which means the trim on your built-ins matches the trim on your crown, and both match the shaker doors on your island.

Plano and Collin County homes ask a lot of millwork. Older Central and East Plano homes need matched additions to trim profiles that are no longer stocked at any lumberyard — we grind knives and run it. New luxury builds in West Plano, Frisco, and Prosper ask for coffered ceilings with hidden LED coves, painted board-and-batten walls in playrooms, and custom range hoods that read as furniture. Every project is drawn to scale, fabricated in the shop, finished in the same booth as our cabinetry, and installed by the same crew.

Millwork almost never lives alone. Most projects pair it with custom cabinet design and fabrication for the kitchen or built-ins, installation done by the same crew, and 3D rendering so you can see the coffered ceiling in place before it's built. For older homes we combine millwork with cabinet refacing and repair and restoration so the whole room reads intentional.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What counts as custom millwork?

Anything wood, built-in, that isn't a cabinet with doors. Wainscoting, board-and-batten walls, coffered and beamed ceilings, mantels, staircase surrounds, window seats, mudroom benches, library ladders, and custom interior trim packages.

Do you work in solid hardwood or MDF?

Both — paint-grade work in MDF and hard maple, stained work in oak, walnut, and cherry. We recommend the right substrate for the location; painted MDF wainscot handles humidity differently than a walnut mantel.

Can you match existing trim in an older Plano home?

Yes. We take a sample of your existing casing or crown to the shop, mill matching knives if needed, and produce trim indistinguishable from the original — critical when adding to 1980s and 90s East Plano homes.

How long does a coffered ceiling take?

Typical 12×14 ft coffered ceiling: 1–2 weeks in the shop building beams and panels, 4–6 days on site installing and finishing. Painted coffered ceilings are done in a week; stained walnut ceilings take longer for finish.

Do you build built-in bookcases and window seats?

Yes, weekly. Floor-to-ceiling built-ins for studies, playrooms, and living rooms, and window seats with drawer or hinged-top storage for reading nooks and mudrooms.

Can you match a stained finish to my existing floors or beams?

Yes — we custom-mix stains in our shop and finish sample boards for your approval before applying to any installed millwork.

Do you do exterior millwork?

We focus on interior work. Exterior brackets, corbels, or porch details we quote case-by-case with appropriate species (cedar, mahogany) and finish for weather exposure.

Can millwork be added to a kitchen or bathroom remodel?

That's most of our millwork work — coffered ceilings over kitchen islands, wainscot in the dining nook, and custom range hoods that blend with the cabinetry.

What about custom staircases?

We build stair skirt panels, newel posts, and box beams, and coordinate with your stair contractor. Full stair fabrication (stringers, treads, risers) is subcontracted to specialty stair shops.
